What a fabulous evening we had. The White Horse was busy, three beers on the bar: Whitstable Bay Pale Ale (Shepherd Neame), Shepherd Neame Spitfire Gold and Exmoor Ale; no complaints from anyone about quality. The Queen’s Head at Broadchalke had Badger Best & Fursty Ferret, the latter was very enjoyable (not suggesting anything wrong with the former but I didn’t try it!). The Crown at Alvediston was very quiet, only two people in before we took over! A good selection of ales: Prelude Pale & Hedge Hop from Flack Manor and 6d Best. All were excellent. Finally on to the Horseshoe at Ebbesbourne Wake. We presented Tony & Pat with their Country Pub of the Year award and we tucked into Otter Best, Bowman Swift One, Gritchies English Lore and Flack Manor Flack Catcher (I think I may have tried them all; well three of them!!). Highlight of the evening was Tony buying us all a drink in appreciation of his award; he was quite clearly delighted.
